Air New Zealand and Air China reveal proposed partnership

first_imgDetails of a proposed partnership between Air New Zealand and Air China have been released, which will introduce a new service between China and New Zealand.Following approval, Air China will introduce a new direct daily service between Beijing and Auckland, aiming to double sustainable capacity between China and New Zealand.The partnership will also see the airline continue to codeshare on Air New Zealand’s daily service between Shanghai and Auckland, which will be solely operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from 24 August 2015.Air New Zealand chief executive officer Christopher Luxon said the proposed alliance will further the existing relationship between New Zealand and China.“By connecting the Chinese capital with New Zealand for the first time in three years we would provide tourists and business travellers with unparalleled air connectivity between and within each home market,” Mr Luxon said.“I am proud to be able to work with our long term Star Alliance partner, Air China, to ensure these important links make commercial sense, are sustainable and are in the interests of consumers and the wider economies.”Air China chief executive officer Song Zhiyong said by working closely with Air New Zealand they aim to provide better services between China and New Zealand to meet growing market demands.“This service, along with Air New Zealand’s Shanghai — Auckland service, will provide greater benefits to travellers in both countries in the coming years — an outcome which we will feel very proud of,” Mr Zhiyong said.If approved, the alliance services are scheduled to launch in December this year.Source = ETB Travel News: Brittney Levinsonlast_img read more
